  • IDC Reports—Salesforce Cloud Ecosystem on the Rise

According to a study just released by IDC, companies are jumping onto the cloud to find success in Salesforce's growing eco-system. Even though cloud spending accounts for less than 5% of IT spending, it's been growing at 4.5 times the rate of overall IT spending since 2009. The report reveals that more than 70% of IT spending gets tied up with maintenance of legacy systems and routine upgrades. Businesses can’t compete while staying anchored by on-premise ERP systems that are costly to adapt to business change. In contrast, the cloud ecosystem lets businesses enjoy inter-connected services at a fraction of the IT costs required for on-premise systems. As a cloud ERP provider, Intacct sees customers enjoy this “aha” moment on a daily basis as they move to the cloud.

The rapidly-growing cloud ecosystem fosters synergies that translate into amazing results for customers. For example, when companies adopt Intacct as their ERP and Salesforce as their CRM to create synergy in their quote-to-cash processes, they see an obvious impact to the bottom-line. It doesn’t stop there. Intacct and Salesforce encourage customers to integrate across a wide array of related services through the Intacct Marketplace and Salesforce App Exchange. On the cloud, customers have the ability to work seamlessly with a multitude of services.

Salesforce users gravitate toward Intacct because they find deep finance capabilities not found in other ERP systems. For example, consider revenue generating activities that start in Salesforce and flow into finance. Through Intacct’s Salesforce connectivity, opportunities can be converted to sales orders with a click and even include the information necessary to kick-off revenue recognition processes. Services companies can do the same with projects that require project accounting. The tight integration allows automation that eliminates rekeying data and visibility through cross-system reports and Chatter conversations.

One company that saw huge benefits from moving to the cloud was DonorsChoose.org—an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. One of their finance team’s big struggles was revenue recognition for corporate grants. Their on-premise system was not integrated with Salesforce, and finance had no general ledger visibility into when grants were secured or received by the development team. Since moving to Intacct, they’ve significantly streamlined this process by connecting Intacct and Salesforce—eliminating duplicate data entry and gaining complete visibility into the grant lifecycle. The finance team now saves a full day of manual work each month, and sees in Intacct a solution they can scale with.

“We have a big, hairy, audacious goal of growing DonorsChoose.org to $100 million in revenue and Intacct is the perfect partner to scale with us along the way. The software delivers major productivity improvements for our team, but more importantly, it gives us access to trusted financial data on a real-time basis, which is a major benefit across our organization." –Andy Kaplan, CFO, DonorsChoose.org
